Set in beautiful, open countryside, this attractive, detached stone cottage has a large lawned garden with garden furniture and barbecue.Interior: The house is light, bright and well decorated throughout. Five miles from Mortain, with its Abbey and waterfalls, for more extensive shopping, restaurants, swimming pool and tennis courts. Just over half an hours drive from the sandy beaches of the Cotentin and about an hours drive from Mont St Michel. Some 45 miles from Caen, Bayeux and the Normandy landing beaches. The mill is in a quiet country lane in pretty rural surroundings. There are lovely views across the meadows from the secluded, south facing garden through which the mill stream runs (this is fenced). There is a patio area with garden furniture gas barbecue and swimming pool (7.3x3.7m 01/05-30/09), so you can enjoy your aperitif as the sun goes down.Interior: Charming farmhouse kitchen/dining room with dining table and seating for 10, English TV, video, DVD and CD player. House: Idyllic rural surroundings Position: In the bocage region, just outside the hamlet of La Fresne Poret, four miles from Sourdeval for shopping and restaurants and 10 miles from the larger town of Vire. The beaches of the Cotentin around Avranches can be reached in forty five minutes and it is only slightly further to Le Mont St. Michel. The ports of Caen and Cherbourg are approximately 1.5 hours away. Built in 1824 in the local stone, the mill cottage, which has been lovingly restored, lies in a peaceful setting at the end of a leafy track. It is the ideal, secluded hideaway surrounded by streams, fields, woodland and forest walks. The property includes a traditional apple orchard and a picturesque field with a stream running through it. There is also a large garden area with garden furniture and barbecue and a shallow, unfenced pond above, from which the mill stream flows. Fresh farm eggs and vegetables can be purchased from the friendly key holder.Interior: Comfortably furnished in traditional style and tastefully decorated throughout, the accommodation is on three floors. The lower ground floor includes a double bedroom, bathroom and separate wc. Sourdeval is about four miles away with more extensive shopping and facilities and the large town of Vire is just six miles away for supermarkets, restaurants and various tourist and leisure activities. The forest of St Sever is close by offering beautiful woodland walks and cycle tracks and the Lac de Dathée is only two miles away for sailing, watersports, horseriding and the Vire Golf Club along the lakeside. About 40 minutes drive to the coast at Granville and 45 minutes to Mont St Michel. The D-Day landing beaches are also within easy reach. Set well back above the quiet village road, this charming cottage stands in a pleasant garden with plenty of space for children's games.
