House: Picturesque pigeonnier Position: A mile from the village of St Georges-de-Monclar for every day shopping, eight miles from Vergt for Friday market and a similar distance to Bergerac. The vineyards of Bergerac and the Dordogne valley are close by. Private fishing (free of charge), riding, horse drawn carriage rides and tennis also available nearby. La Vernelle is a large country estate of over 300 acres of meadows and woodland. There is a very large swimming pool (16x8m, 21/05-30/09) shared with three other holiday cottages and a shared leisure room with pool table and gym equipment. Peacefully situated on the edge of the woods, La Maison Perchée is just a short walk away from the pool area.Interior: Built in 2003 on five 18th century stone pillars using traditional materials and methods of construction. Underneath the pigeonnier is a terrace of old stone with garden furniture. and barbecue. A wooden staircase leads up to the well appointed accommodation which has the feel of a tree house. On the lower level is the living room with armchair, sofa and single bed/sofa, TV, dining table and chairs, well equipped kitchen corner with gas cooker, microwave, fridge/ freezer, kettle, toaster and washing machine. About four miles from the lake of Pomport/Sigoules for water sports and other activities. Set on a hillside with breathtaking views across the vineyards to Bergerac beyond. You can relax and enjoy this panorama from the terraces around the pool (11x 5.5m, 02/04-30/10) at the back of the house. There is a covered terrace to one side, with sandpit for children and a delightful patio shaded by a pergola overlooking the pool, perfect for al fresco eating. There is a good choice of garden furniture, including sun loungers and a barbecue. Beyond the pool area is a large expanse of grass, bordered by vines, providing plenty of space for childrens games.
